We are an apostolate of Catholic midwives serving our parish communities in a pro-life, pro-family setting in the spirit of Titus 2: 3-5.
Informed by our Catholic faith and trained in ancient healing arts by traditional methods, we teach fertility awareness, provide prenatal, birth, and postnatal care for mothers and babies when legal, participate in marriage preparation and marriage counseling for women, and help wives and mothers care for their families by teaching time-tested natural remedies for common ailments during the entire course of the life cycle, from birth through death. We also train and provide mentoring for Catholic student-midwives.
Our goal is one midwife for every parish, supervised by the parish priest, serving the parish families.
We plan to achieve this by:
-building up the community of Catholic women and providing a time and place to share collective wisdom, model Catholic womanhood and a life of sacramental significance for maidens, give practical wisdom in the realm of homemaking and household management, and help guide the discernment process for women's vocations.
-providing information on healthful living for women: information about the female cycle, nutrition, the use of herbs, exercise, and wise use of time and resources.
-providing an educational model with which to train other midwives.
-praying for and with Catholic women and their families.
We think this quote perfectly sums up our task:
"'The heave of heavens is the Lord's, but the earth He has given to the children of men,' and to women He seems to have assigned the borderland between the two, to fit the one for the other and weld the links...
...if she comes down to earth to claim its lowland provinces she exposes herself to lose both worlds, not securing real freedom or permanent equality in one, and losing hold of some of the highest prerogatives of the other."
